Moderation of thematic group on Inclusion in Teacher Policies and Practices and authorship of Policy Dialogue Forum General Report.
Approach
The Task Force for Teachers for Education for All held its fifth international policy dialogue forum in Windhoek, Namibia in November 2012, with well over 200 delegates from 46 countries taking part in thematic group sessions. Simone prepared and moderated the thematic group session on Inclusion in Teacher Policy and Practice, ensuring the panel was balanced and contained members representative of the Task Force globally.
As general rapporteur, Simone co-facilitated the final plenary session to discuss the future policy directions of the Task Force. She subsequently wrote the general report of the forum in consultation with the subgroup moderators and the head of the Task Force secretariat, quality assured the report’s translation into French, and wrote an evaluation report based on review of the evaluation forms completed by delegates.
Outcomes
Pre-forum planning and liaison with panel members before and during the forum ensured the sessions were successful and of high quality. The forum enabled a rich and productive debate on teacher policy, reinforced networks to support member states’ work on teacher policy and identified strategies to reinforce the Task Force’s work to better inform effective teacher policies and practices internationally. The session on Inclusion in Teacher Policy and Practice generated key recommendations for national government, regional actors and the Task Force.
